Eau Gallie Electric - Electric Contractor
Owner - Florida Department of Transportation
Project Scope:
The design-build project to back up the entire 3-story FDOT District 1 Headquarters building, serving as the central data collection and communications hub for critical government infrastructure, has been successfully completed. The project entailed the installation of a 2000A transfer switch paired with an 800kW generator equipped with a 3000-gallon sub-base fuel tank.

Additionally, our team conducted site preparation and poured a concrete pad to support the generator system. We facilitated the installation of a new 2000A electrical service from the utility company and provided all necessary engineering design drawings to ensure seamless integration and functionality. Through meticulous planning and execution, Eau Gallie Electric ensured the successful implementation of the backup power system, bolstering the resilience of the FDOT District 1 Headquarters building.

The City of Naples WWTP Generator Installations & Electrical project involved a comprehensive upgrade to critical infrastructure. This included the demolition of two existing generators and the installation of four 600kW generators, along with ductbank systems for power distribution. The project also encompassed meticulous installation of conduit, wiring, and connections for motors, controllers, and electrical devices. The new elevated generator pad required 200 yards of concrete for construction and features a complete rail and stair system. Additionally, the project involved establishing grounding and surge suppression systems, as well as instrumentation and control wiring. The existing generator room was converted into a second electrical room, which included a new roof and significant electrical upgrades. The project was completed on time and within budget. The project involved the replacement of the existing generator with a robust 1750kW unit and comprehensive upgrades to the electrical infrastructure.
Eau Gallie Electric oversaw the demolition of a large I-Beam, existing canopy, and generator foundation, subsequently pouring a new pad foundation to support the upgraded generator and a 6000-gallon fuel tank. They also managed the installation of new switchgear, motor controllers, grounding systems, surge suppression systems, and instrumentation and control wiring.
In addition to these electrical upgrades, Eau Gallie Electric coordinated modifications to the security fencing, incorporating additional concertina wire as required for enhanced security measures.
Throughout the project, Eau Gallie Electric executed all tasks within the secure facility without disruption to daily operations, ensuring that the jail maintained operational continuity. The project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget, significantly bolstering the facility's ability to withstand emergencies and guarantee uninterrupted power supply during critical situations.
