Homestead Air Reserve Base
Repair Flashing Light System at Runway 6
Our Airfield Systems team successfully completed a turnkey replacement of the Sequenced Flashing Lights (SFL) system for Runway 6 at Homestead Air Reserve Base. The project involved the full demolition and removal of the existing ALSF-1 system’s, 21 elevated flash head units, individual control cabinets (ICCs), and the master control cabinet. The outdated system was replaced with new FAA-compliant equipment compatible with the existing ADB Safegate infrastructure.
The installation included one new master control panel, 21 ICCs, 21 elevated flash head assemblies, 20 reinforced concrete underground pull boxes, and new power and control cabling using liquid-tight flexible metallic conduit. Wireless (radio) Ethernet and fiber optic pathways were provided to integrate with the Airfield Lighting Control System (ALCS), along with software updates enabling full functionality and adjustable light intensity settings. All work was completed within active airfield operations and fully complied with FAA, UFC, NFPA, and OSHA standards, meeting a 270-calendar-day performance schedule.
