Polk County – Central Jail – 1750kW Generator Replacement & Upgrades

The Polk County Central Jail Auxiliary Generator Replacement is a FEMA project that replaced the existing generator with a 1750kw generator and upgraded the electrical infrastructure. The project involved demolition of a large I-Beam, existing canopy and generator foundation. A new pad foundation was poured to support the generator and new 6000 gallon fuel tank.

Other upgrades included new switchgear, motor controllers, grounding and surge suppression systems, as well as instrumentation and control wiring. Modifications were made to the security fencing and additional concertina wire was required. The project was completed seamlessly within the secure facility, with no disruption to daily operations. Finished on time and under budget, these upgrades enhance the jail’s emergency readiness, ensuring continuous power supply in critical situations.
