Our Story
We understand the unique journey of transitioning from military service, and we are here to guide you every step of the way. At Eau Gallie Electric, we hold a rich history rooted in veterans’ contributions. Founded in 1948 by Garland Reynolds, a veteran of the United States Navy who bravely served in World War II, our legacy is one of honor and dedication. Now located in the heart of Melbourne, FL, we proudly serve customers across the United States.
Today, Eau Gallie Electric is led by Chris Hughes, a distinguished graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Chris’s experiences at West Point have endowed him with invaluable skills – clarity, endurance, and a procedural approach – essential for running a successful business.
As a combat veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division, Chris’s deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004 forged his unwavering commitment to excellence. In 2005, he took the reins of Eau Gallie Electric and has since held the distinction of a State of Florida Unlimited Electrical contractor (since 2007) and a Professional Engineer in the State of Florida (since 2012).
Under Chris’s steadfast leadership, Eau Gallie Electric has achieved remarkable growth, amassing the capacity and capability to excel in a diverse array of electrical projects. Embodying the values instilled during his military service, Chris is dedicated to providing the same level of commitment and service to each and every client as the President of Eau Gallie Electric.

SUCCESS STORIES
Transforming Careers with Eau Gallie Electric's DodD Program
Meet some of our team members:
Skillbridge was an awesome program for me. Eau Gallie Electric is a veteran-owned and veteran-run company so working for them makes for an easy transition out. They take pride in their veterans and they all know the language. The management is understanding when it comes to our processing and the VA procedures, which makes getting out that much easier.
I decided to transition out of the Marine Corps and change career fields to pursue a career in electrical engineering. With nine years of expertise in telecommunications, I had zero experience in the electrical field. Eau Gallie Electric recognized my drive and willingness to learn and put me to work under the most detail-oriented electricians I’ve ever met. After my DOD Skillbridge time came to an end and I began my electrical engineering degree, Eau Gallie Electric hired me part time as an intern in their electrical engineering department, giving me hands-on experience that paralleled my studies. This opportunity was one-of-a-kind, and I’m honored to work for a company that supports their employees the way they’ve supported me.
Upon my decision to retire from the United States Air Force after 22 years, I was faced with the hard truth that the military was all I’ve know for my adult life. I had to decide what I wanted to do with with the skills and knowledge that I’ve acquired. When I learned of the DoD Skillbridge program, I immediately started looking at the available opportunities. I reached out to Eau Gallie Electric about this opportunity and immediately started the application process. Once approved, I was able to easily transition due in part that there were numerous former military employees, including the owner; Chris Hughes. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my experience thus far and look forward to my continued growth in this trade.
Thank you Chris and Loretta for allowing me to be part of the team.
